Overview & Reviews
The MR2 Spyder rolls into 2002 with a new Formula One-style five-speed manual transmission. The only other change is that the yellow cloth interior has been discontinued.
- Well-balanced mid-engine design, scores high on the fun scale, awesome car to run hard on the track, affordability.
- Homely design, lack of cargo space, dated interior design, non-adjustable seats.

If you are looking for fun, this is it. - 2002 Toyota MR2 Spyder
By silvertoy - December 27 - 10:00 amSeriously, if anyone gives this car a bad review, then they probably dont own one. I find myself driving 15 miles out of the way on my commute to and from work, just so I can fit in those extra twisties. Its an excercise in minimalism. True there isnt much storage space, but theres cant be more than 2 of you anyway, how much could you possibly need. I would go as far as saying that the car is even economical, I find myself driving it instead of my Tundra because I get anywhere from 30-35mpg consistantly, AND it uses regular unleaded. Its just fun. Its supportive seats are comfortable on long trips.

MR2 Spyder - my favorite care - 2002 Toyota MR2 Spyder
By TheMinx - November 14 - 10:00 amEven after almost 2 years, I still smile every time I look at my Toyota MR2 Spyder. It handles incredibly well, corners like a dream and accelerates just as I need it to. The huge wheelbase on this small car allows me to take corners marked for 25 MPH at 50+MPH without even a quiver. All the under-the-hood maintenance items are clearly marked and easily found.

Exotic car and an Average price. - 2002 Toyota MR2 Spyder
By Peter Sidiropoulos - August 26 - 2:00 amExcellent car. Handles EXTREMLY WELL... power is alittle lacking, but with a few aftermarket Turbo kits to pick from. This car can get EXTREMLY POWERFUL. Nice ride, the BEST TOY i ever purchased for my self. Exotic looks, and just an overall great car.

Fun Car! - 2002 Toyota MR2 Spyder
By Gazings - July 8 - 8:46 pmWhat a fun car to drive! There truly is nothing like a rear-drive mid-engined little sports car. Handling is awesome, and the ride is still comfortable. Styling is subjective, but I like it because it doesnt scream "cute car". You can put a surprising amount of stuff in the compartments behind the seats - makes up for little trunk room. The top is a little hard to fold down and lock in place, but once its down - beautiful. Added bonus: great resale value!

The perfect California commuter car - 2002 Toyota MR2 Spyder
By Steve - March 24 - 9:43 amThe 6 speed semi-automatic transmission takes a little time to become instinctive. There were many bad shifts the first week or two, but its truly a godsend in bad traffic. The car is fun, responsive, easy on gas. I can drop the top in less than a minute sitting at a redlight. If you need to haul junk around dont buy this car. There is no trunk.

Great fun car. - 2002 Toyota MR2 Spyder
By Brian - November 30 - 3:36 pmToyota makes the best automobiles in the world, dollar for dollar. This is no exception. A porsche it is not, but then again it is less than half the price of a Boxster, a quarter the price of a Carrera, and none of the enormous maintenance expense. I have placed 25K on the car, the first maintenance at the dealer, 7500 miles, cost me $86.00. The 15K service was $168.00. How can you beat that in a well made, fun, convertible??? You cant!!!

Spyder - 2002 Toyota MR2 Spyder
By dbigdogg21 - June 14 - 10:00 amThe 2002 MR2 Spyder is an awesome car, and it kicks the crap out of any Miata. Especially when you start ordering TRD parts for it. You can get a turbo or NOS that will bump your horsepower up above 325 easily. In a 2400 lb. car, Ill take that.
